Major attacks on Iowa’s workers compensation system are coming to the Iowa legislature.

from Andrew Mertens, Communications Director – Iowa Association for Justice

Iowa lawmakers are pursuing a major “tort reform” agenda at the Statehouse. The “Loser Pays” bill from earlier this year is currently in limbo, but lawmakers just filed a devastating bill that would practically wipe out medical malpractice lawsuits, and major cuts to the work comp system will be proposed in the coming days or weeks.

You¹ll be asked (multiple times) to call and email your legislators about these bills throughout the legislative session. But there is something else you can do.

EMAIL YOUR CLIENTS TO JOIN OUR FIGHT

You have hundreds of former and current clients who know (better than anyone) how important it is to protect our tort and work comp systems. I need you to invite them to join our IAJ Action Network.

JUST COPY AND PASTE THIS INTO A GROUP EMAIL TO YOUR CLIENT LIST AND YOU¹RE DONE

Good morning, I wanted to take just a minute to write former and current clients of this law firm about an important issue that impacts your legal rights. State lawmakers are considering several bills this year that threaten the rights of injured Iowans in the courts and workers’ compensation system. These are not minor changes, these are major attacks on the legal rights of Iowans.

The Iowa Association for Justice is an advocacy group to which I belong. Please join their Advocacy Network to hear ways you can reach out to your lawmakers about these issues. This doesn¹t cost you anything, ever. You are simply agreeing to receive 5-6 emails between now and May that alert you to dangerous legislation that you can encourage your lawmakers to oppose. Like all email networks, you can opt-out at any time.

Follow this link to join the advocacy network and help us fight back against attacks on your legal rights: https://app.muster.com/297/supporter-registration/

Thank you for your consideration.

That’s it. They opt-in, and can opt-out at any time. We do all the rest.

Please make this a priority. We need more voices to help us in this fight. Even if you can only put together 15-20 email addresses to invite, do it!
